My Soundtrack of the Week this week is Alexandre Desplat's COCO AVANT CHANEL. As I'm sure you'll discover, Desplat is, in my opinion, the best soundtrack composer in the business today. And while he's had one or two disappointments (most notably THE GOLDEN COMPASS, but hey, what wasn't disappointing about that film), his hits far outweigh his misses. Without a doubt he's at his best with the drama/romance genre, and COCO AVANT CHANEL is a superb example of this—stirring, beautifully understated at times, a little fun at other times, but on the whole simply gorgeous!
